LDA Childcare Affordability Programme
We managed, for the LDA and DCSF, the £40m Childcare Affordability Programme, designed to reduce child poverty by offering subsidised childcare to low-income families.
Offering both short and long-term supply-side subsidies, the programme enabled parents to access training, volunteering, job search and ultimately employment. We believe we made a real difference for our clients in the four years of the programme, and the evaluators agreed:
“The appointment of a managing agent (Greater London Enterprise) for the programme proved to be an effective strategy. GLE’s extensive knowledge of cognate areas such as worklessness, in particular, was an asset to the programme. A good working relationship involving LDA, GLE and DCSF was established and maintained throughout the programme. “
“The role of the managing agent has been crucial to making CAP05’s complex management system work and the support provided by GLE has been praised by strategic and delivery partners. The independent status of the managing agent enabled it to act as a buffer body between those funding and delivering the programme and to play an important and valued role in supporting the programme’s overall administration and coordination.”
We are delighted to have been contracted by the LDA to manage their new Childcare Affordability Programme between April 2010 and 2012.
