Relay London Jobs
Relay London Jobs was a unique project managed by GLE from January 2008 to March 2010. Funded by the London Development Agency, it was a key player in the 2012 legacy.
Relay was a London-wide network of 220 job brokerage and employment support agencies publicly funded to support those furthest from the labour market into work. All jobs and training opportunities to arise from the Olympic Park, were disseminated via Relay and enabled jobseekers from all over London to apply.
GLE launched and developed the network, and worked in partnership with the Olympic Delivery Authority, Jobcentre Plus, Transport for London and other employers to enable over 350 people to gain employment and over 500 candidates to go on employer-led certificated training courses such as Traffic Marshall, CSCS, SIA and Waste Management.
By providing a quality control service, Relay ensured that only candidates suitable for roles were referred to employers.
“Excellent candidates, easy to place into work, quick to respond, reliable, always my first port of call”, Lynn Tapper, Training and Development, Set Solutions.
Relay also provided extensive support and training to employment advisors, providing 26 workshops and networking events in topics such as Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, Employing Refugees, Employer Engagement and Back to Work Benefits as well as providing 1:1 support to advisoes on a daily basis.
“The training covered all aspects of back to work benefits. It was very informative and delivered well. The whole training was fantastic”.
